Tennis Club Notes

By Don Armstrong

The Wolf Laurel Tennis Doubles Championships were renewed this year and played on September 25, October 1 and October 4. The championship was last held in 1997 on the old courts, so players were enthusiastic to highlight our tennis program on the new surface.
Names of partners were drawn at random .

Carman Singer and Rosalie Stoduto, (pictured below left), won the women’s match with Kay Frankenberger and Marlene Parks as Runner-Up .

Rich Singer and Bob Stetson, (pictured below right), won the Men’s match with Milton Ready and John Stoduto as Runner-Up.

The Mixed Doubles match was won by Milton Ready and Kay Frankenberger, with Rosalie Stoduto and Lewis Schlitt as Runner-Up.

In recognition of their achievement ( or good luck ) , name plates have been installed on the original. We appreciate Deede Walker’s help with photos to record the event.

The WL Tennis Club is planning to repeat the championship on an annual basis as was originally played and we anticipate increased participation from old and new players as well as spectators who can enjoy watching neighbors demonstrate their tennis skills. We thank Tom Wrenn for organizing the Men’s event and Cindy Tucker for her help with scheduling and support.

Look for more Notes in future issues of Top Of The Bald and check the outdoor bulletin board regarding the various WL Tennis Club activities planned for 2009.
