Annual Harvest Festival: Sept 5

Open to all....


The annual Wolf Laurel Harvest Festival will be held at WLCC on Saturday, September 5 from 10 am - until 3 pm.

This is an open event so please tell all your friends and please plan to stay for lunch & the live music.

There will be variety vendors, both old and new showing off their crafts, including Art (oil and watercolor), Pottery, Hand Forged Iron Work, Handbags, Wood (Bowls, Cutting Boards, Benches & Tables). Weaving, Jellies & Jams, Jewelry, & more.

Lunch and Live Music will be from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm. Lunch is $8.00 per person. Look forward to seeing you on the 5th. Darnell Eller, Chair - 689-9205 and Barby McQueen, Asst. Chair - 680-9892.

Passing of Ann Miller

Sad news from Pensacola.

Mac Miller's wife Ann passed away yesterday following complications from surgery. We can all be thankful that he was able to be with her.

Health Issues Seminar: Aug 21

A series of Wellness Seminars is being organized for the residents of Wolf Laurel.

The first in this series is scheduled for Friday, August 21 at 3 pm in the clubhouse old bar and will cover age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a progressive disease that results in serious visual impairment and finally, blindness. Recently a model for this disease has been created in animals which is remarkably similar to the human condition.

This informative FREE seminar will feature doctors from Johns Hopkins Medical Center who will describe the model, East Tennessee State University who will explain a novel drug delivery system to the eye, the President and CEO of Wellness Institute, Inc who will review oxidative stress testing strategies and myself who will talk on the relevance of taking antioxidants for treating AMD.

From The Board

During a recent board meeting the dress code was discussed. This is a friendly reminder of Article III of The House Rules.

Article III – DRESS REQUIREMENT

Section 1. Women. Tennis and golf attire are acceptable at lunch only. Golf shirts may be worn with or without collars. Shorts may be no more than four inches above the knee. Blue jeans must be clean and without holes. No cutoffs, sweatpants, bathing suits, gym shorts, “shower clogs”, “flip flops”, or spikes may be worn in the dining room or bar.

Section 2. Men. Tennis and golf attire are acceptable at lunch only. Golf slacks and golf shirts with collars are acceptable. Blue jeans must be clean and without holes. Shirttails must be tucked in. Shorts must be no more than four inches above the knee. No running shorts, gym shorts, cutoffs, bathing suits, tank tops, hats or caps, spikes, “flip flops” or “shower clogs” may be worn in the dining room or bar.

Section 3. Guests. It is the responsibility of the Club member to inform the guest of the dress code requirements and all guests must adhere to these requirements.

Section 4. Compliance. The determination of compliance with the dress code rests with the Board of Directors.

10th Anniversary Info: August 29

We had a question that was posted about why our 10th Anniversary Party was being limited to 150 reservations.

From George:
The Club's Tenth Anniversary Party is a very special sit down event and to properly serve, it must be limited to 150 because of our building restrictions and seating limitations. We have to plan as well for the potential of bad weather and summer storms that limit seating on the outside decks.

In addition the membership has stated several times that parties over 150 make it almost impossible to enjoy the dance floor. We still have over 50 seats available for our members and for those that are unable to make a decision to sign up early for a reservation

We will also toast the Club's Tenth Anniversay at the Club's Presidents Party on September 26th when we welcome our new Club President, and also celebrate the new members who have joined the Wolf Laurel Country Club this year!
