Especially in the political season, there are many chain emails around with subject headings such as "must see this video", and so forth.
ABC news, and others have reported on a new tactic to spread viruses in this manner. In short, the email has a link, as they often do, to watch a video. The linked page is a bogus, yet very good imitation of the real Youtube.
The page will indeed play the correct video, but users are prompted to first download a software update. It is there that the malicious code resides.
