Community Volunteer Opportunity

From Sandy:

One of our Members passed this on with the hope that someone from the Mountain would like to participate. Mars Hill College is looking for:

Discipleship Camp Program Coordinator

Volunteer(s) needed to provide general leadership to summer camp for college students who have no permanent place of residence during the summer.

Coordinator will work closely with Mars Hill College staff to provide weekly activities for camp participants for the purpose of enhancing the personal, academic, and spiritual life skills of participants.

Duties would include recruiting, scheduling, and coordinating other volunteers and activities for participants, such as service/volunteer work, tutoring, recreational, and other experiential learning experiences.

Coordinator should be available to personally lead some activities but will primarily offer organizational management to the program. Responsibilities could be shared between a small team of volunteers.

Camp begins May 9, 2011 and ends August 9. The estimated number of camp participants is from five to ten. There is no remuneration.

Those interested should contact Loretta Shelton, Director of Conferences and Events at Mars Hill College by email at lshelton@mhc.edu or by phone at 828-779-8267.
