From The GM: 2009 Updates


Food and Beverage Update

Come join us this year for great food and service at The Wolf Laurel Country Club!

Chef Rudy returns along with his kitchen staff and Becky Hamlin will again lead the most caring wait staff I have ever known. Sandy Howard again leads our catering and beverage department, with Naomi and Arundel in tow, and we look forward to a great season of parties and special events for all to enjoy.

We will strive to provide the best food and service at the most reasonable prices this year, while still meeting our budget, and providing new dining opportunities for you to enjoy during the 2009 summer season at The Club.

Half Price Birthdays
Birthday details subsequently announced here.

On Wednesdays, we will offer a member’s birthday meal at half price during their birthday month. We are a seasonal club, so we will celebrate 2 months at the same time. In May, we will offer a 50 % discount for those born in May and January. During June we will celebrate birthdays in June and February, etc.

We hope this new program will increase participation on our slowest night and reward members and spouses on their birthdays.

Weekend Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast Buffet details @ $7.99 subsequently announced here.

Starting in June we are offering a buffet breakfast each Friday and Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am for $ 7.95 ++. We will also adjust the hours on the Sunday Brunch to begin at 10:30 am and finish at 1:30 pm.

We offer these new ideas in response to members’ suggestions, and we encourage your support. Please make reservations so that we can properly schedule staff. Our goal is to serve at least 30 for breakfast in order to cover our costs and continue this feature for your enjoyment.

You will note on the May Calender that we have adjusted our hours of operation to help reduce labor costs where possible. We will also be offering smaller food portions, and weight watcher specials. This will not only reduce the price of the meal served, but provide healthy choices.

Your comments and suggestions are always encouraged so we can better serve members and guests. Please feel free to call Mr. Bob Turner, board liaison for f&b or myself, or leave a comment on the blog.

Reservations
As the season arrives, please remember our renewed emphasis on advance reservations so that we can provide the best service and control costs. It takes all of us to make this happen, and we all benefit in the end.

New Online Features
The website was updated this winter. We now have full menus and information in a new five page Event Planning Guide. This will greatly streamline the process for hosting member parties or outside receptions.

The website now delivers information including long term and near term events, Lounge or Dining Specials, Pro Shop Sales and complete calendars at your convenience, when you need it. Try the new calendar page for starters.

Reminder: Reservations For Pig Pickin'

Hello Everyone,

Just a reminder that in an effort to provide the best service and control costs, we are really stressing reservations in 2009 and in some cases posting a deadline.

With that in mind, the deadline for this weekend's Pig Pickin' and Live Bluegrass Party will be Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 PM. Please use 828 680 9771 until May 1.

Week Ending April 25


Hello, and here are the details for this week.

Friday and Saturday, The last weekend of the our Winter Program, open to all WL residents until May 1. The Lounge will open at 5:00 PM with a $2 cover charge on Friday and Saturday.

Friday April 24
Fridays at Five: End of winter drink specials will be on hand, please bring an appetizer to share if you are able and tell your friends.

Saturday April 25
The Lounge will open at 5:00 PM, with a $2 cover charge. The main event so to speak, will be an all you can eat Pig Pickin' with Live Bluegrass.

Full Menu: Roast Pork, Hash, Rice, Baked Beans, Coleslaw and Dessert, all for $14/person, including the cover charge. Roast Pig by Allan Shumaker.

Reservations Required: We will need reservations by 5:00 PM Thursday, April 23 at 828 680 9771.

Website Seems To Have Been Down

Received an email this morning, posted yesterday, April14 at 4:00 PM that the website was offline. At 7:50 AM, April 15, this appeared to be the case.

An 8 minute phone call to the web host has debugged whatever the issue was, and it functions normally on our end.

If anyone subsequently receives a 404 message, "Page cannot be found on this server", or similar, refresh your browser, it should load normally at that point. Second option might be to clear your browser's cache, cookies etc, then reload the page.

In Other News: Blogspot, (The host for this blog), has a scheduled outage on April 16, beginning at 5:00 AM Eastern time. Duration is normally 60 minutes or less.

Saturday, April 18
Italian Night Dining: The Lounge opens at 5:00 PM, followed by Italian Night at 6:30 PM.

Menu: Baked Manicotti, Garden Salad, Garlic Rolls, and Dessert, all for $12/person, including the cover charge. Dinner by Papa Nick's.

Reservations Required For Saturday Dinner: In order to help us do a nice dinner with good service, we will need your reservations by 5:00 PM Friday, April 17th. Please call 828 680 9771 and leave a message. Thanks !!

Prices for 2009 are posted below for 18 holes and 9 holes respectively.

Golf Member: $35/$25, Grandchildren under 16, Free
Social Member: Grandchildren under 16, $10

2. Accompanied Guest
Golf Member: $40/$30
Social Member: $40/$30
Social Member Guest: $45/$35

3. Unaccompanied Guest
Golf Member: $50/$40
Social Member: Must accompany guests.

4. Outside Guests: Renters, Real Estate Guest, & Others
$75/$45

*All asterisks must play with Member. Social Members must play with their guests and guest rounds count towards total allowable rounds per house rules, located here.

Cart Fees
All categories: $20/18 holes, and $11/9holes.

Twilight Rates: Half price greens fee after 3:30 pm.

Guest Day Rates
Apply as follows for Golf Members Only
Golf Members/Guest, Greens fee family: $25.00 / NA
Other Guests: $30.00 / NA

There are no discounts for unaccompanied guests. Guests must be accompanied by Member on guest day to receive their rate. Only 18 hole rounds are eligible for discounts and 18 hole cart fees will be charged.

Pre Purchased Multi Play Guest Fee Coupon Books
These are available at The Club House and will offer additional $5.00 discounts from stated fees. The books are non refundable and apply to greens fees only. Guest day fees are not eligible for further discounts.
